How to Use
Coir disks are a hassle-free growing medium for starting seeds or clones. Here’s a step-by-step usage guide:
Step 1: Hydration
- Place disks in a tray or container
- Add warm water (about 3–5 times the disk’s weight)
- Wait 5–10 minutes until fully expanded
- Drain any excess water
Step 2: Insert Seeds or Cuttings
- Sow 1–2 seeds into the pre-made center hole
- For cuttings, insert stem gently into the moistened disk
- Lightly press the top to ensure good contact
Step 3: Initial Growth
- Place in a warm, well-lit area
- Use a humidity dome or plastic cover to retain moisture
- Keep moist but not waterlogged
Step 4: Nutrient Feeding
- Begin feeding with diluted nutrients once the first true leaves appear
- Avoid overwatering to maintain proper air balance
Step 5: Transplanting
- Once roots are visible through the sides, transplant directly into soil, pots, or hydroponic systems
- No need to remove the disk—plant it as is
Step 6: Disposal or Reuse
- After use, disks can be composted
- In some cases, partially used disks can be rehydrated and reused for short-cycle crops
